Just like the corn kid said in the TikTok video that went viral, it's corn/a big lump with knobs/it has the juice. Well, if you're obsessed with corn like the corn kid is, then you're going to love this corn-themed festival in Illinois.

For over 40 years the Corn Fest in Dekalb has been handing out free corn to thousands of visitors each year. Every August Dekalb gears up for the biggest festival in the state (besides the state fair). Carnival rides, free music, and the main event, free corn. The festival started as a corn boil event and then in the late '70s changed to a street fest with local vendors, crafts, entertainment, and you guessed it, corn. The festival has had some big names perform in the past.

Over the years, musicians and bands like Phil Vassar, Lady Antebellum, Travis Tritt, Joan Jett, Survivor, Night Ranger, Blue Oyster Cult, .38 Special, The Marshall Tucker Band, Leon Russell, Koko Taylor, Jefferson Starship, Greg Kihn, The Smithereens, Junior Wells, Lonnie Brooks, Eddie Money, and The Grass Roots have graced the Corn Fest sound stage.

This year Scotty McCreery will be joining that list along with several other musicians and groups. Just like we have K of C BBQ to "end the summer" the Corn Fest is similar for Nothern Illinois. Just one last event before school starts and fall arrives. I just wonder how many ears of corn the festival goes through each year. Thousands I would assume.

The event (minus the musical events) is free to attend and is just another way to wrap up the summer. It's corn! I can't image a more beautiful thing.
