According to NPR in Kansas City, Bear Hunting season is officially underway in the Show-Me State, and this is only the 3rd time in the state's history that you can legally hunt black bears. According to NPR Kansas City...

"Missouri’s bear hunting season begins Monday, Oct. 16 and runs through Wednesday, Oct. 25. This is the third year of legal, regulated bear hunting in Missouri modern history, since it began in 2021...Even if you land a permit, you can’t just walk into the woods with a rifle. Bear hunting is only allowed south of the Missouri River, an area broken up into three Bear Management Zones.Each zone has its own harvest quota, from five to 20 bears,"

The article goes on to mention that there is a state-wide cap of 40 bears total, and if you shoot and kill a black bear without a permit you can receive a fine up to $15,000 and be charged with a misdemeanor crime. For more information on Bear Hunting season in the Show-Me State, click here!

There are so many rules, regulations, and details you have to follow in order to participate in Bear Hunting in Missouri it doesn't really seem worth it. If you are someone who has a strong desire to bear hunt it would make more sense probably to travel somewhere where the bear population is much greater and the chances of actually bagging a bear are much higher.
