Momo the Missouri Monster is a Bigfoot-like creature that was reportedly sighted around Louisiana in the 1970s. The case received coverage from national media outlets, and even inspired a song by Montgomery City native Bill Whyte.

Opinion on whether or not the creature was real is divided. Here are a few comments shared with us in our online poll (vote below), by those who voted "other:"

  • I lived there and yes it was real!
  • I have lived here for 44 years, no way he is real
  • My great grandpa who was sheriff back then shot Momo!
  • People are silly if they believe this!
