The Great River Road (which Hannibal is a part of) is one of those highways that is easy to travel with so much to see and take in.

Following the Mississippi River along the eastern border of the state, the Great River Road offers access to historic towns, state parks, museums, and archaeological areas. Explore the history of Missouri from Mark Twain’s birthplace in Hannibal, to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, to the Civil War era Hunter Dawson State Historic Site in New Madrid.

It's no wonder that it was picked as the best highway/road in the Show-Me State by 247 Tempo. I know a lot of us aren't thinking about road trips as we are still in the winter months, but spring and nicer weather will be on the way. That will make us want to get out and hit the road, why not take the Great River Road tour and explore more of Missouri?

You can make a week out of it by stopping in some of the bigger places and enjoying local food and shopping and seeing some of the historical monuments in each place. You don't have to have a ton of money to hit the road, put the phones down, and take in the sights and sounds of the Show-Me State.
