I am a hypocrite when it comes to awards.  I say that I despise award shows and yet I have entered 20 bazillion competitions over the years (that number is only a slight exaggeration).  And, ironically, today is the day for the Missouri Broadcaster Association Awards which is happening at Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri.  We are fortunate to again be up for an award, but truth is the real person who is responsible for this honor won't be at the awards tonight, even though they should.  That person is you.

I enjoy competing in the Missouri Broadcasters awards each year simply due to the fact that it's an award that is voted on by my radio peers in other states.  We always do our best to keep the focus on you and making sure we're doing our absolute best to serve your needs, but it's nice to know what our colleagues think of us once a year.

That being said, it is important to me (most important in fact) that you understand how vital you are to the success of KICK-FM and to my own personal show.  It is rare in this day and age for a radio station to stick with the same format for three decades.  And, there's only one way that KICK-FM has been able to do that and that is because of you and your support.

I wish that you could be with us while we sit at a table in Lake of the Ozarks tonight at a Lodge of the Four Seasons and eat fancier food than we're worthy of.  And, I wish you could accept whatever we win tonight.  Because this award (and all the others we've been fortunate to win over the years) is because of you.
