There are enough dangers when swimming that you can see and hopefully avoid. However, there's one danger that's rare but real and it happened to a Missouri swimmer who was infected with a brain-eating amoeba after swimming in a lake in Iowa.
The Quincy Family YMCA is excited to announce the Quincy Family YMCA Dolphins swim team! Children ages 5 to 21 are welcome. Participants must be a member of the YMCA to join. The Sheridan Swim Team is hosting the 18th annual Titan Firecracker Classic swim meet, July 6 through July 8. The event takes place as Sheridan Swim Club, at 3915 South 24th Street in Quincy.

As our society has become more "refined," I'm left wondering, do people still swim in creeks or just head to the pool now?
