The last hour of voting during the finals of March Bandness was frenzied, to say the least. Thousands of fans of Alabama and the Charlie Daniels Band cast a ballot in the waning minutes. The boys from Fort Payne, Ala. were trailing until the end, when they surged ahead and took the title of Best Country Band of All Time.
The Taste of Country March Bandness Finals will feature the two longest-serving bands in the competition. Alabama and the Charlie Daniels Band were playing country music before some of the 14 other groups in this bracket-style contest were born, and their longtime fans haven't forgotten. Both used social media to drum up support during semi-final matchups, and both cruised to comfortable wins.
The battle for the best team in American begins today, not next week. Taste of Country's March Bandness is a fan-voted search for the best country band of all time. Sixteen groups from five decades of country music will square off two at a time in this bracket-style tournament. It's a battle of legends versus modern superstars, outlaws versus pop-country herores and trios versus quartets, quintets or more-tets.
One of the most successful groups in country music history, Alabama, have had a four-decade career that encompasses hit singles, best-selling albums, sold-out tours and awards too numerous to count. Now, the band have revealed a special fan celebration for their 40th anniversary: a cruise.
