Driving the entire length of the Great River Road has always sounded like a dream road trip to do one day, with so much beautiful scenery to see, and great towns to stop in for a bite to eat and do some shopping. A website called travelawaits.com just ranked the 7 Best Stops on Illinois' Scenic Great River Road and our very own Quincy deservedly so makes the top 7!

The site ranks the Quad Cities as the number one stop on the Great River Road, followed by Burlington, Iowa, Nauvoo, IL, and then Quincy in the number 4 spot! They say this about Quincy on the site...

"This is one of the larger towns we’ll visit... But it still has a small-town feel that you’ll find in most river towns in this area...everything from art drives (so you can see all the local murals) to eagle drives (with recommendations on the best places to see the area’s bald eagles)."

The list then ranks Louisiana, Missouri 5th after Quincy, then it goes Grafton, IL, and finally St. Louis to round out the trip, to see the entire list for yourself just click here!

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
