The phone rings. You grab the receiver to answer it. As you bring the receiver to your head, you proceed to drag the phone off the desk because the last person to use the phone left the cord curled into a knot.

Really!?! Why do you let it get this bad?

Is this really a big deal? To me it is. Its the line between common courtesy and being aware of your surroundings.

Common courtesy: If you are not the only person using that particular phone, please leave it in a condition where other people can use it without causing damage.

Being aware of your surroundings: It looks bad, sloppy, unprofessional. Fix it.

Being aware of your surroundings #2: I should be more aware of my surroundings and not grab the phone when it looks like this. But the phone rings, I go to grab it, and hilarity / frustration / destruction ensues. I do try to straighten things like this out before I have to grab it.

Please. Don't be a cord knotter. Fix it.
