As shopping malls seem to be slowly disappearing, there is one in Missouri that is thriving and considered the oldest in the Show-Me State.

Country Club Plaza in Kansas City may not look like your typical shopping mall but is one of the state's biggest and oldest shopping centers, with high-end retailers like Saks Fifth Ave and Coach. The plaza also has Barnes & Noble, Bath & Body Works, and local boutiques, which are just a few of the 70 retailers for customers.

There are also more than 20 restaurants to choose from. This is a more outdoor type shopping experience, and according to Business Insider, the plaza is designed to replicate a foreign city.

Country Club Plaza was designed to look like the city of Seville, Spain, and today, the strip mall is still open.

History of Country Club Plaza

The plaza was established in 1922 and finished in 1923. For over 100 years this shopping plaza has grown to hold over 100 businesses and restaurants for people to enjoy. The center sits on 55 acres south of downtown Kansas City. It was the first regional shopping center in the world when it first opened and the neighboring apartments and houses tend to lean a bit more upscale.

So way out of my price range.
