Here's proof that there really is a special day to honor just about everything imaginable. In the tradition of National Hamburger Day and World Chocolate Day, October 15, 2015 will mark the celebration of the first-ever National Cheese Curd Day.

"We're excited that cheese curds finally have a day of their own," said Craig Culver, co-founder of Culver's, the ones responsible for National Cheese Curd Day. "If you've never tried a cheese curd, this is the day to do it."

If you don't know what a cheese curd is, they're delicious. They are little chunks of cheese, breaded and fried. Crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside. They're messy, they're probably not the healthiest snacks (but not the worst, either), and they're awfully good.

To celebrate National Cheese Curd Day, Culver's is conducting the "Golden Cheese Curd Sweepstakes." From October 5 to November 1, a golden ticket will be given to customers that purchase cheese curds. That ticket will have a code that can be entered online for the chance to win $1,000 in Culver's Gift Cards and cheese curds for a year, as well as other prizes.

Culver's estimates that 614 billion... yes, billion... cheese curds were sold last year.
