More Snow on the Way… But How Much?
It looks like the already winter-weary midwest is in for another big snowfall this weekend.
For the Hannibal/Quincy area, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service from 6 p.m. Saturday through 6 a.m. Monday.
As of Friday morning, forecasters are calling for a rain/snow mix Friday night and early Saturday. But, the snow begins in earnest Saturday afternoon and continues through Sunday night.
For our corner of northeast Missouri and western Illinois, forecasters are now saying we could wind up with anywhere from 8 to 10 inches of snow by Monday morning.
Forecasters are calling for as much as six inches of snow in Clark and Hancock counties.
To the south, in Pike, Lincoln and Audrain counties in Missouri, they’re expecting freezing rain and sleet to be a part of the mix starting Saturday. Their Winter Storm Watch calls for 5 to 8 inches of snow and up to a tenth of an inch of ice.
Looking into next week, once this system moves out, we have warmer temperatures on the way, with highs in the mid to upper 30s as we head toward next weekend.
