I had the chance this evening to watch a lost art: an old-fashioned Radio Play. The way Radio was - performers reading scripts in front of several microphones, three sound effect performers setting the background mood, and the Master of Ceremonies seemlessly guiding the audience in and out of commercial breaks and touting the benefits of Lux Soap and Bromo Seltzer.

Dracula: A Radio Play is based on the novel 'Dracula', by Bram Stoker, and transforms it brilliantly for 'radio'. Even if you are not a fan of the story (of which, I am not), the experience is still well worth the admission. Even the younger audience members were entertained by the performance, thanks to the way the performers engaged the audience.

This production is a part of the Quincy Community Theatre's 75th Season Fund Drive.

Tickets are still available for Saturday's 7:30 pm performance. Visit www.1qct.org for ticket information.
