Growing up in Chicago, there were many a late night spent in the parking lot of a White Castle. Those fresh steamed burgers with onions, cheese, and a pickle slice made a fitting close to an evening filled with adult beverages.
I don't spend late nights out like that any more...
I was told that if it cooked in the bird - its stuffing. Otherwise, it's dressing.
Whatever you call it, it was never homemade at my house. Ma always opened the box of Stove Top, and we called it stuffing even though it wasn't cooked in the bird, because that's what it said on the box...
