I don't mean to offend, but I generally have low expectations for Pekin, Illinois. It's fine. I just don't get my hopes up too much. Even with that low bar, I've just learned something that stunned me. The fact that Pekin, Illinois really used to deeply believe (literally) that they had a direct connection to China.

I was inspired by a story I saw this morning about the efforts from citizens in Dull, Scotland to become a sister city to Boring, Oregon.  I personally think this is a great idea and apparently so do a bunch of Facebook people since there is now a page created for this project.  This brought to mind the fact that we have sister cities to our hometowns and haven't heard from them lately.
