Canton Missouri

Just a small town with one stop light. But I would come to love that little town. And if you spent time there in the '90s, join me in a little trip down memory lane. Here are a few things that only YOU can appreciate:

If you ever wanted to see an actual working soda fountain or taste a real phosphate drink, you don't have to travel that far. Primos in Canton, Missouri has been making old fashioned sodas for years.

Just south of Canton, Missouri sits Martin Park. And within that park sits an old brick building with a ton of history. Opening in the late 1800s, this brick building was once a one-room school (named Lincoln Colored School) for African American children in grades one through eight. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1985, but fell into disrepair.

This year's theme for the Parade of Light Parade is from my FAVORITE Christmas movie (and no, it's not a Hallmark Christmas movie).

Barring any unforeseen heavy rains, forecasters say the Mississippi River should begin to fall in the next few days.

The Canton Comedy Theatre has hosted some quality acts - Marc Price, Dustin "Screech" Diamond, Mo Alexander, Dale Jones, Juan Villareal, Carol Pennington, just to mention a few. Saturday, March 14, The Canton Comedy Theatre presents the return of Jimmie "JJ" Walker. You might remember him as J. J. Evans from the TV show 'Good TImes.'

A Lewis County habitat-focused organization hosts its annual banquet Saturday, February 21.
