Big River Steampunk Festival

The Big River Steampunk Festival has been one of the most successful celebrations in Hannibal for many years now. If you live in Quincy and don't want to travel for your steampunk fun, there's good news for you as the festival will have a Quincy version this year.

What began with the desire to have some kind of a festival in Hannibal over Labor Day weekend has evolved into an area phenomenon, drawing thousands of people from all over the world.

COVID-19 takes another event away from the Tri-States.

The costumes and artistry that people put into creating their "look" is spectacular. This is definitely the event to check out if you are at all interested in learning more about steampunk, or are a steampunk master.

You won't have to wait until Labor Day for Big River Steampunk, there is a spring faire coming this March.

You might have seen it in movies like Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downy, Jr. or Wild Will West with Will Smith, it's called steampunk. Also known as, "Vistorian Science Fiction," and know you can see if for yourself Labor Day weekend in Hannibal.

If you're a big science fiction fan, you're probably familiar with the term "Steampunk." If your'e not a fan, you may have never even heard of it. Unless you're from Hannibal, Missouri. Over the last couple years, just about everyone in Hannibal has gotten to know quite a bit about Steampunk, thanks to the Big River Steampunk Festival.

The Big River Steampunk Festival is in its second year in downtown Hannibal. Even those of us that did not know a lot about Steampunk before this festival started have quickly discovered that costumes are a major focus for Steampunk enthusiasts. We snapped several photos of impressive costumes we saw while walking around Main Street, and the riverfront area at Kiwanis and Nipper parks.
