Home run balls make great souvenirs especially historic ones. Albert Pujols hit career home run number 697 on Sunday and the fans who caught it tried to give the ball to him. The reason he gave it back is heartwarming and the real reason why Albert Pujols is a hero.

Baseball is all about numbers. Historians and fans pour over them with an obsession that is greater than virtually any other sport. One who is not included in that number is St. Louis Cardinal Albert Pujols. Despite the fact that he's approaching 700 career home runs, he still plans to retire no matter where he ends up.

Albert Pujols is doing more than just going to the final All-Star game of his career on Tuesday, July 19. There is a report that the day prior he will be participating in the Home Run Derby.

The crowd at the St. Louis Cardinals game knew something was up when one of the gates in the outfield opened and a familiar figure strolled onto the field. It was the first time Albert Pujols had worn a St. Louis Cardinals jersey in more than a decade.

If you have any Cardinals friends on your Facebook friends list, no doubt you've probably seen plenty of gloating about how bad a year that Albert Pujols is having.  And, when we say bad year, we mean Albert is having a really bad season so far.

The St. Louis Cardinals open the 2012 season tonight in Florida against the "Miami Marlins".  Can't get used to saying that.  Another thing I am having a hard time adjusting to is seeing Albert Pujols in an Angels jersey.
