Tracy Lawrence Headlines at the 2024 Missouri State Fair
Country music singer Tracy Lawrence headlined the grandstand show at the 2024 Missouri State Fair Tuesday night.
Tracy Lee Lawrence, 56, is an American country music singer, songwriter and record producer who was born in Atlanta, Texas, and raised in Foreman, Arkansas.
Lawrence began performing at age 15 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 1990 to begin his country music career.
Lawrence began his country radio career at age 23 with four straight Top 10 hits from the Sticks and Stones album.
He has scored nearly 20 radio singles, including seven of his eight number one hits like "Stars Over Texas," "Time Marches On" and "Better Man, Better Off."
All the band's instruments and sound gear were covered in plastic as a precaution, due to the threat of rain, but thankfully, there was no downpour, or even a sprinkle during the show.
Opening for Lawrence was 17-year-old Ruby Leigh Pearson, a runner-up on NBC's The Voice. She was on "Team Reba" and is from Foley, Mo.
According to her website, Pearson has won numerous titles and singing competitions along the way as well as a world title in a international competition against 64 other countries, winning the overall world title in all age divisions at 11 years old.
She performed an acoustic set, accompanying herself with one lone guitar, with no back-up musicians or singers.
Pearson started out with a Johnny Cash classic “Folsom Prison Blues” and ended with a fast-paced yodeling number, which seems to be a specialty style of singing for her.
After her set, she was escorted across the track and under the grandstand, where she signed autographs and posed for photos with fans who lined up to see the young star.
Due to hospitalization following a hit and run accident that occurred on Aug. 10, Creed Fisher will not be able to perform at the Missouri State Fair Thursday night.
“At this time, Fisher’s family is requesting privacy and appreciates fans’ continued thoughts and prayers,” read a portion of a statement provided by the Fair on Tuesday afternoon.
Country artist Drake White will now be performing prior to Ian Munsick on Thursday, Aug. 15. Concertgoers that would like to request a refund may do so here.
