A man fell to his death in a canyon in Illinois over the weekend and right now there are more questions than there are answers about what caused his fall.

I saw USA Today share the sad news that a man fell from a canyon in Starved Rock State Park in Illinois on Saturday at approximately 4:30pm. The man has not been identified at this time and they report that the Illinois Conservation Police and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources have not responded to questions as of this writing.

As the official Starved Rock State Park website says, there are 13 miles of trails within the park and some are a bit perilous in height. I saw reports late Saturday saying the park was being searched after the man's body was found, but no context was given about whether authorities suspected an accident or foul play.

As this is a developing story, it will be updated once new information is provided by the investigating authorities in Illinois.

UPDATE: NBC in Chicago has identified the man as Albert Cramer 38, of Oswego Illinois. They report that authorities do not suspect foul play at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
