The FDA just announced that a recall that had recently been issued by Purina out of St. Louis has now been expanded even more. The FDA says that "potentially elevated levels of vitamin D in two additional product lots" from Purina could lead to serious health problems for dogs. They said that "Vitamin D toxicity may include vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, and excessive drooling to renal (kidney) dysfunction".

Purina out of St. Louis issued the following graphic to show what dog owners should look for if they have this product.

Nestlé Purina PetCare Company

Banned Pets by States

Because the regulation of exotic animals is left to states, some organizations, including The Humane Society of the United States, advocate for federal, standardized legislation that would ban owning large cats, bears, primates, and large poisonous snakes as pets.
