For the past 5 years, many have been able to continue their careers by working remotely. For many in Missouri that's about to change due to a sudden mass layoff that the state has just been notified about.

This new bulletin just posted to the Missouri Jobs site reveals another WARN notice has been submitted by a major employer and it will affect many remote workers across the state. In a letter submitted to Missouri state jobs authorities, Block Inc has revealed that they will be cutting many remote workers across Missouri. Here's what they said in a statement:

"Block, Inc. (“Block”) will be permanently laying off 23 individuals in its Customer Operations functions on October 13, 2025. The impacted employees work remotely throughout Missouri and received notice of the anticipated separation on August 12, 2025."

This layoff news was shared not long after a recent earnings report from the second quarter of the year.

Block Inc was formerly known as Square and deals with financial technology payment methods including Cash App and Afterpay. The affected positions are in customer service and management support roles. This new mass layoff today brings the total in Missouri that have lost jobs this year to 3,963 according to the Missouri Jobs site.
