Way More People Moved to Missouri Last Year than Moved Out
This is why perception is something that can't be trusted. I would bet many believe that more people are leaving Missouri than those who are arriving. There is new data that proves that perception is not accurate.
I saw this interesting map shared on the Missouri sub-Reddit today showing where Americans moved to and moved from in 2024. Technically, this is data from July of 2023 through July of 2024 showing how many residents moved to Missouri versus those that moved away. Missouri is one of the rare Midwestern states that saw more people move in than moved out.

So many surprises and takeaways from this map. Missouri saw 12,000 more residents move in versus those that moved away and even Arkansas (no offense intended, Razorbacks) saw a big increase in population. I also was under the impression that Iowa would see a big population increase, but the children of the corn actually lost a few more than they gained (sorry, Malachi). As for Illinois? Well, it's a well-documented fact that the Land of Lincoln is losing people left and right.
Just goes to show you that what you think is true isn't always real. Numbers show Missouri is attracting people and not repelling them which is a very good thing.
