Over 20 years ago, a grandfather told a grandson a tale of how there was a hidden stash of loot just north of a tiny Missouri town. It was left there by bootleggers in the 1930's as the story goes, but to this day nothing has been located. Yet.

If you drive through Milford, Missouri, don't blink or you'll miss it. While there aren't many people that live in that area now, there are plenty of stories about what used to happen in or near Milford.

Legends of America shared the tale of a man who said his grandfather told him about this loot when he was only 16. At the time, he thought his grandpa might have been imagining it all, but his mom said the history is true.

He said that bootleggers that began with thefts in several Kansas places eventually made their way to Missouri. They had successfully executed several robberies and were looking for an out-of-the-way place to hide their riches. The story says "the loot continues to be hidden in a small cavern near Horse Creek northeast of Milford".

If that is accurate, that means there's a cavern somewhere just northeast of Milford, Missouri that might contain this loot.

If it still remains the story says "the guns, jewelry, and gold would be worth a significant amount today".

DISCLAIMER: the areas where this might be located (if it even exists) is likely private property, so don't go investigating any place without permission.

It does make you wonder though if someone has a cave near their property that has contained stolen riches for almost 100 years. If you see a cave with bootlegger's names on the walls, you've found the possible location.
