I saw this report from the state of Illinois and immediately questioned if it was accurate. A mass layoff notice of more than 800 at John Deere in Illinois was posted this week, but the company says what the state is saying is not accurate.

Let's start with what we know about what the state of Illinois said about John Deere jobs

The Illinois Work Net Center site reported yesterday that John Deere had filed a WARN notice that a mass layoff was imminent at John Deere. Notice the dates they listed, though.

If you look at the specific WARN notice for John Deere the state shared, you'll notice there are multiple dates including yesterday for layoffs.

Great job done by WQAD who reached out to John Deere about this layoff posting and the company says those numbers include past layoffs and not future.

Here's something important to note. The company did NOT deny that more layoffs are coming for the East Moline production teams. It only said that the 819 included past layoffs, too. John Deere just had their quarterly earnings call today and no layoffs were mentioned.

As this is a developing story, it will be updated once John Deere clarifies if this Illinois jobs posting was inaccurate and exactly how many (if any) layoffs will happen moving forward.
