I've heard it said that you learn something new every day. If that's really true, I guess today what I learned is a factoid that declares no state in America has more "neighbors" than Missouri. As it turns out, there's only one other state that can make that claim.

I saw this fun conversation on the Missouri sub-Reddit page. It's a simple map/graph showing that Missouri is surrounded by more states than any other in America along with Tennessee.

After seeing this, I did what any red-blooded American would do - I asked Alexa and yep, it's true. Alexa said (and I quote):

The most neighborly states are Tennessee and Missouri. Each share borders with eight states. Tennessee borders Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Missouri. Missouri borders Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska.

If you do the math, that means Missouri is kind of the Mister Rogers Neighborhood of America. Won't you be my neighbor?

Instead of just trusting an Amazon device, I verified this neighborly state thing via Infoplease also. They also gave Missouri a big ole pat on the back (if the state had a back) and said it's most neighborly. Well done. So, Show Me State, best be nice to your neighbors since you're Mister Rogers now.
