Missouri Vacation Idea? Explore Underground Mine in Clear Kayaks
What would you say if I told you there's a relatively easy day trip you can make from Missouri to a destination where you can explore an underground mine in a crystal-clear kayak? It's not that far away and it's in an area with other neato things to do, too.
Depending on where you are in Missouri, this vacation option is approximately an 6-hour drive, but I am of the opinion it would be more than worth it. Have you heard of Red River Gorge in Kentucky? It's between 5 and 6 hours from St. Louis, Missouri.
There are a lot of things to do in this beautiful part of Kentucky, but this is the one that got my attention. You can explore an underground mine in a see-through kayak.
I'm not a travel or tourism director, but this part of Kentucky is in the very scenic Daniel Boone Forest and when you factor in that the trip there takes you through Lexington and Louisville, you have lots of stop and refresh options, too.
Considering I have a great fear of heights, I'd never do this, but Red River Gorge in Kentucky is a favorite for climbers.
Perhaps you're looking to squeeze in a quick day trip before summer is over? If so, this one should be on your getaway briefly from Missouri radar.
