Models Hint at Monster Christmas Week Snow in Missouri & Illinois

If you're hoping and praying for a white Christmas in Missouri and Illinois, you will want to see what multiple computer models are showing could happen just prior to December 25.

I cannot emphasize enough that this is not an official forecast. We are much too far away from Christmas to say this will happen with any certainty. However, there are multiple meteorologists who have pointed to computer models and what they show could happen Christmas week.

Here is what Meteorologist Travis Roberts noticed on the GFS model for Monday, December 23. This is potential snowfall with Missouri and Illinois getting nearly a foot.

Direct Weather looked at the same day and also saw models showing big snow possible for a big swath through Missouri and Illinois.

Finally, One Nation Weather backed up what the models are showing with what he sees as a potential shift in weather patterns that could lead into that Christmas week event.

I highly encourage you, if you have the time, to watch and listen what each of those meteorologists says about what these models show. All of them without exception offer caution about what the models show is possible.  As of this writing, we are more than 2 weeks away from when this weather system is potentially impacting Missouri and Illinois. It just takes a slight variation in data to completely change what will actually happen.

One final note. I asked my meteorologist wife to corroborate the models these 3 were showing and she pointed me to the Pivotal Weather map showing exactly what they mentioned Christmas week.

I share these outlooks because it offers a bit of hope for those hoping for a white Christmas in Missouri and Illinois. Will it happen? Time will tell.
