If you see a robot in Chicago holding burger sliders, I may know a thing or two about what's going on. New reports confirm that White Castles in the Windy City are now handling some food deliveries with robots.

This was the sight in Chicago, Illinois just a few weeks ago. It was a little Coco food delivery robot spotted cruising down one of the city sidewalks.

Here's what's going on. Restaurant Dive reported that White Castles in Chicago are now offering robot food delivery. The press release they shared said that Uber Eats orders from White Castle in Chicago were now handled by Coco Robotics. They said the concept is that this will expedite orders and also reduce parking lot congestion at their Chicago locations. The report also said that the robot delivery in Chicago is the first time that it's been used by White Castle anywhere in America.

"This partnership is about driving smarter operations where it matters most," said Chris Shaffery, Vice President of Operations at White Castle. "By testing Coco's robots at a high-traffic location, we're seeking to ease congestion, speed up service, and allow our team to stay focused on quality - helping us serve more customers, more efficiently."

What about Chicago's infamous brutal winter months?

The Coco robots service was chosen specifically for Chicago due to the fact that they have proven to be able to navigate snow and slush...something Chicago has plenty of during wintertime. You would have to believe that this type of service is the future since so many restaurants are having a challenge with staffing. What humans aren't interested in doing will be done by artificial intelligence it appears.
