Several months after the announcement that Imo's Pizza would be coming to Quincy, the restaurant has opened in the former Blockbuster video location. Imo's is a pizza chain famous for serving St. Louis-style pizza. What exactly makes a pizza St. Louis-style? A few key elements.

According to Cook's Country, St. Louis-style pizza is distinct from other pizzas because of its thin crust (which some describe as resembling a cracker or a wafer) the use of Provel (a processed cheese made from Swiss, provolone and cheddar) cheese, sweet sauce, and square slices.

St. Louis-style pizza is a hotly-debated subject among pizza fans. Some say it isn't even pizza. Others can't get enough of it. The subject even came up one night on national television, when Jimmy Kimmel called the pizza "terrible." On the other hand, The Daily Meal named Imo's delux pizza among its 101 Best Pizzas in America in 2014.

Imo's began in 1964. Today, there are over 90 Imo's restaurants. According to KHQA, Imo's first day in business in Quincy was Sunday (June 14). Hours are 10 a.m. to midnight Tuesdays through Saturdays, and from 11 to 11 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays.
