Meals on Wheels is holding a Cook’s Night Off event on the third Thursday of the month throughout 2019. It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each. All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert. The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.

The Loraine Lions Club will be holding a Crossroad Country Opry at the Unity High School on Saturday, March 4th. The show begins at 7pm. Tickets are $7.50 in advance, $8 at the door. For more information, call Johnny Anderson at 242-0972.

The youth at The Lutheran Church of St. John and the worship team One Voice is having a fundraiser for the youth to go on to the National Youth Gathering in Minneapolis Minnesota July 11th. Your invited for some Cinco De Mayo festivities, great music and auction items will be available. The event will take place at The Lutheran Church of St. John, 3340 State in Quincy, from 3 pm to 8 pm.

The Quincy Chamber of Commerce has a NEW series of informational sessions about local government. Local Government II: School Board, Park District, and Visitors Bureau will be held on May 6th from Noon to 1pm at Quincy's City Hall, 730 Maine. Session Two will feature school board, park district, and Quincy Area Convention & Visitors Bureau officials discussing how they work together, the authority each has and how you can get involved. Cost is $10 for lunch. Bring your questions as there will be time for Q&A.

The Quincy and Hannibal chambers, along with The Good Samaritan Home, are partnering for the HR and On-boarding Success Workshop on May 8 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Quincy Public Library. Elaine Hand of Innerview Inc. will discuss hiring and on-boarding strategies, both new and those from the past that still work. Other topics include looking outside the box to be more creative in our hiring and on-boarding processes and procedures, and the importance of hiring “slow,” on-boarding with preparation and patience.
