I had this discussion with a friend the other day, then it moved to my facebook page.

My friend and I both had to rack our brains to remember the last time either of us had gone to a theatre to see a movie. He decided his last time was "one of the Pirates of the Caribbean" movies but he couldn't recall exactly which one. "The second or third" he thought maybe. Then we tried to remember how many of those there are. Neither of us could. It's safe to say neither of us are big movie buffs.

I actually thought it had been longer than 4 years since I'd gone to see a flick, but it was indeed "Avatar" that my daughter and I went to. I liked it... she wasn't as impressed. Kids today...

Part of the reason I rarely go to see a movie in a theatre is the cost. I don't feel the need to take out a loan to be able to enjoy myself for a couple of hours. Just as big of a part is the fact that I rarely feel motivated by any of the movie previews I see anymore. Maybe I'm a stick in the mud or just not easily impressed, I don't know. What I do know is since Avatar I can't remember much of anything that made me say "ooh I need to see that." If I do have that reaction it's going to be on dvd in a matter of hours anyway.

Am I alone here or is this attitude I have fairly common? What is the last movie you've gone to a theatre to see?
