Wednesday Press Conference Updates Storm Recovery
Officials gathered at midday Wednesday for a press conference to provide an update on the repair and recovery efforts in Quincy following Monday night’s storm.
Ameren Vice President of Operations Ron Pate reported that the number of customers without power in Quincy has dropped below 10,000. Pate hopes most households in the city will get their lights back by late Wednesday.
According to Mayor Kyle Moore, 30 percent of the city’s roads are still impassable.
A number of state agencies and area municipalities have offered help to Quincy officials.
The mayor reports Quincy Transit resumes operation on holiday hours Saturday and will operate on snow emergency routes till further notice beginning Monday.
Also, city garbage and recycle pickup has been suspended for the rest of week, continuing their regular schedule next week.
Adams County Emergency Management Director John Simon reports there has been just one injury as a result of the storm. He also reported all Quincy parks are closed until further notice and that all emergency services in the county are operational.
