We have a lot of claim to fames in this area.  Boyhood Home of Mark Twain.  The Gem City.  Home of the Famous Lincoln Douglas Debates.  I'd like to add one more title to the list:  The Demolition Derby Capital of the World.

Think about it.  We have demolition derbys everywhere.  Virtually every county fair.  Even some unplanned ones at 36th and Broadway in Quincy and Highway 61 and MM in Hannibal.

I say all that to say this: Palmyra has a planned demolition derby coming on Friday night, August 3rd at 7:30pm at the Palmyra Fairgrounds.  They'll have over $8000 in prizes, money and trophies.

If you want to be a part of the demo derby in Palmyra, you'll need to be present and registered at least one hour before it starts that night.  If you would prefer to sit on the sidelines and just watch, admission is $8 for adults, kids six to twelve are $4 and kids under six are free.  Pit admission is the general admission price plus and additional $10.
