For the man helping to organize a veterans salute this weekend in Curryville, Missouri this weekend, it's very personal.

Kirksville resident Larry Page is overseeing the salute this Saturday (5/26) at the Back 40 Bluegrass Park located near Curryville on Pike County Road 32. The event is scheduled to begin at 3:15 pm.

Page understands the cost of freedom better than most of us. A six year Navy veteran himself, Larry lost his oldest son, Rex, who was killed in 2006 in Iraq, serving in the Marines.

The veterans salute will include a parade of bikers including members of the Patriot Guard riders, music, a 21-gun salute and flag service. The keynote speaker will be retired Army General Larry Kay of Jefferson City.
