The Historic Hannibal Marketing Council will host the first Veterans Day "Freedom 5K" Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.

The run/walk will raise money for an improved Veterans memorial in downtown Hannibal. The 5K entry fee will be discounted for active military members and veterans.

All 5K participants will be given a t-shirt, an American Flag to wave during the race and an opportunity to run in honor of a veteran or active military member.

The race starts at the intersection of Main and Bird streets, continues on a flat path in downtown Hannibal and will wrap up as the Veterans Day Parade begins.

Registration forms are available at Parks and Recreation, Native American Trading Co., Java Jive, Powder Room, Mark Twain Boyhood Home and Museum, Danni Nicole's and Chocolaterie Stam. Participants can also register on active.com beginning Aug. 15.
