It was the 11th hour of the 11th day on the 11th month when World War One finally came to an end.  It was called Armistice Day and still is by many although most people call it Veterans Day now.  Friday in honor of Veterans Day, the Illinois Veterans’ Home in Quincy will hold its Annual Veterans Day Program.

The program will begin at 10 a.m. and will end with a 21 Gun Salute and the playing of Taps at 11 a.m. The featured speaker will be Brigadier General and current Superintendent of Quincy Public Schools Roy Webb. The Quincy Senior High School Blue Devil Band will also be preforming patriotic music.

I have been honored to be asked to be the master of ceremonies for the event again and am very proud to be able to do so. This event is open to all in the area.
