Valentine’s Day Date Ideas for Quincy, Illinois

Valentine's Day is not too far away. It's a strange holiday, in that people either love it or hate it from year to year, depending on their relationship status. One Valentine's Day might be celebrated with a candlelight dinner and dancing, then the next with frozen pizza and Netflix.

Let's assume that you are making special plans for Valentine's Day 2013. What are the best places to go? The best things to do?

Going out to dinner and a movie is always a date idea, even if it's not the most original one. There are a ton of great restaurants in Quincy. On Valentine's Day, something along the lines of Tirimasu' or the Pier stand out as good choices, or maybe One Restaurant, Kelly's, the Patio or Lakeview. There are a lot of good options. Just make sure the movie you pick is more appropriate than 'Texas Chainsaw 3D.'

Visiting a winery is a nice activity for couples, and a lot of them will have Valentine's Day entertainment and activities planned. Some of the wineries within driving distance of Quincy include Spirit Knob in Ursa, Collver Family Winery in Barry, Village Vineyard and Winery in Camp Point, Ridgeview Winery in Mt. Sterling, Palmyra's Old Stone House Inn, and Cave Hollow West Winery at Mark Twain Cave in Hannibal.

Something new this year that might be of interest to couples would be an ice skating date. River Skate opened along Quincy's riverfront in November, and is offering a special Valentine's Day discount. If you haven't been to River Skate yet, Valentine's Day might be the perfect excuse to try it out.

If skating sounds like fun, but you'd  rather stay inside where it's warm, there's roller skating at Scotties Fun Spot. One of the young ladies that works at the radio station mentioned that a laser tag date sounded like a lot of fun, and they've got that at Scotties, too.
