Townsquare Media's country radio and digital divisions partnered with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital for a recent fund drive that raised an astonishing $1.4 million over the course of two days.

Taste of Country is part of Townsquare's digital arm, and we took a trip to the hospital and devoted two days in March to sharing the inspiring stories of patients and families who've been touched by the work the staff does in helping children seek treatment for life-threatening illnesses. Trace Adkins, Justin Moore, Charles Kelley and more country stars shared their own St. Jude stories with ToC readers over those two days, and Townsquare's vast network of country radio stations all over the United States joined together for more than 26 hours of radio programming.

Loyal Townsquare listeners pledged donations of $20 each month to help St. Jude pursue its life-saving work, ensuring that no family ever has to pay for treatment, lodging, food or other expenses while under the hospital's care while they focus on what matters most -- the health of their child.

“Townsquare understands the impact St. Jude has on both the local and global levels. We are proud of the 16 markets that joined in our third national two-day event,” says Kurt Johnson, Senior Vice President of Programming for Townsquare Media, Inc., in a press release. “In addition to our local radio effort, Taste of Country, our country music and entertainment website, joined the fight and shared stories from St. Jude patients and country music artists.”

St. Jude boasts the world’s highest survival rates for the most aggressive childhood cancers, and treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push the overall childhood cancer survival rate from 20 percent to 80 percent in the last 50 years. The hospital and research facility has set a goal to drive the overall survival rate for childhood cancer to 90 percent over the course of the next decade.
