We think it’s safe to say that this summer is shaping up to be one of Thomas Rhett‘s best yet. The young singer-songwriter just found out he has been summoned by Toby Keith to be one of the openers on the ‘Red Solo Cup’ hitmaker’s headlining Live in Overdrive Tour.

The 36-city trek, presented by Ford F-Series, is set to kick off on June 14 in Salt Lake City, Utah and will continue through the end of September. The tour will be the latest high-profile run for the son of Rhett Akins, who has spent the past couple of years touring with the likes of Blake Shelton, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pat Green and most recently, labelmate Brantley Gilbert.

“When I found out I was gonna be opening for Toby Keith, I couldn’t sleep for two days because I was so pumped,” Thomas Rhett said, beaming. “This is one of those tours that every new artist dreams about. I’m really excited to get back out on the road with my band and play these awesome amphitheaters with Toby. I feel extremely blessed to have been selected for such a huge tour! It’s gonna be a wild summer!”

Over the past few months, Thomas Rhett has been in the studio putting the finishing touches on his debut country album with the Valory Music Co. The album’s lead single is the Top 30 hit ‘Something to Do With My Hands,’ which is currently burning up the country singles chart. The song’s accompanying video will make its world premiere on April 27.
