St. Louis' own mega-brewery Budweiser is getting a name change. The Belgian/Brazilian owned AB-InBev has announced that from now through the Election in November, Budweiser will be renamed "America," at least on their cans and bottles. There's still no word if you can walk into a bar and order a nice cold glass of America on tap.

This keeps in line with previous years that have included bottles and cans featuring the Statue of Liberty and Old Glory. In addition to the name change, the text of the can will feature lines from both the Pledge of Allegiance and the Star Spangled Banner, among various other minor tweaks. It still has to get approval from the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, but I can imagine we'll be able to pick up a sixer of America in time for our Memorial Day barbecues.

For now this does not affect Bud Light, but I am hoping the AB-InBev owned Canadian beer Labatt goes "Canada" on its packaging.
