Smoke on the River is This Friday and Saturday

The 8th Annual Smoke on the River BBQ Contest will be held this Friday and Saturday at Kesler Park in Quincy. The Quincy Exchange Club hosts the event with nearly $6,000 worth of prizes being awarded Saturday afternoon to the winners. To kick off the event, the Exchange Club will sponsor a Hog Roast at Kesler Park in front of The Dock from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Hog Roast will feature an all-you-can-eat roasted whole hog, slaw, potato salad and baked beans for $10. Kids under 5 are free and kids 6 to10 are just $5. Gates open at 5:00 Friday night. The band Blacktop South will perform at The Dock at 8 p.m.

The Saturday portion of the event will feature the competition of the teams with BBQ and beverages available for purchase as well. Saturday's hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the awards ceremony closing things around 3:30 p.m.The event is free to enter. Later in the evening, the band Captain Geech and the Shrimp Shack Shooters will perform at The Dock.

All proceeds from Smoke on the River will go to the Quincy Exchange Club's community projects.
