Construction has started for the new Slumberland store in the Quincy Mall. The former JC Penney building is being remolded to make way for the new furniture store.

There is still no word yet as to when the furniture store will open, but from the looks of it, the store will be completely gutted and remolded to make room for Slumberland. It was announced back in February that Slumberland would be coming to the Quincy Mall. Slumberland used to be in the Oak Street Mall, but after their lease was up had closed their doors and have been looking to get a more permanent place in Quincy.

Cullinan Properties (who owns the mall) hopes that Slumberland will not only benefit the mall, but the Quincy community as well. The Quincy Mall has seen businesses leave within the past couple of years including The Vanity, Dairy Queen, and of course JC Penney.

Slumberland should open sometime in the Fall, but no official date has been set. The remodel will not only include the furniture, but there will be space for another business to be in the building as well. No one has been announced to take that spot.
