Sleep Is Overrated
The time is 12:55am. I am sitting in my living room writing blogs. I am a little tired, but still in a functional state of mind.
My girlfriend has been asleep since just before 10:00pm. She needs 7-8 hours of sleep, or she is a bear (her words, not mine).
I can function fine on just 4 hours of sleep. I don’t intentionally aim for that short of time beneath the covers, but sometimes I have enough work to do that I end up using some of my “free time” late in the evening to take care of it.
My girlfriend is jealous. She knows she has to have plenty of sleep to be properly rested, where I can function fairly well on minimal sleep. My alarm will go off at 5:45. I’ll get in the shower, get dressed, and then get her up at 6:30. Even with only 4 hours of sleep, I will feel refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Don’t get me wrong – it’s not that I don’t appreciate getting plenty of rest, I am just one of the lucky ones who can function on a small sleep schedule.
So – how much sleep do you need? Do you need several hours, or can you function on minimal rest? Comment below…
