Shredfest will be held Saturday, July 14 at the Ramp Park in Huckeberry Park, sponsored by the Hannibal Parks & Recreation Department, Hannibal Clinic Health Services and PlanNine.

“The competition is a lot of fun to watch. I encourage everyone to come out to see.”

The fourth annual event is a free skateboard, bike and scooter competition. Along with the competition, the first 200 people to attend as a spectator or participant will receive a t-shirt and a Pro-Tech helmet from Ride Cool, sponsored by Hannibal Clinic Health Services.

Registration starts at noon with the competition beginning at 1 p.m. All participants must have a helmet and a signed waiver from a parent or guardian if under 18.

The competition will feature prizes and demonstrations from professionals. Several skate parks and organizations in the St. Louis area have donated prizes. Officials from PlanNine, an extreme sports company in Hazelwood, will emcee and judge the contest.

Spectators are welcome to watch the competition, which will feature some gravity-defying jumps and stunts.

The Ramp Park concession stand will be open. Aron Lee, recreation supervisor for HPR, said, “The competition is a lot of fun to watch. I encourage everyone to come out to see.”
