It happens to all of us. Every once in a while you find yourself piddling around, doing non-work activities while you're at work. Sometimes it's totally innocent, too. You intend to quickly check a news site to skim the latest headlines, and before you know it you've spent twenty minutes reading half-a-dozen stories. Or you need to see if a Facebook message has been responded to, and you get distracted for half an hour by all the new stuff that's appeared in your news feed since the last time you logged on.

Here are a few of the obvious culprits:

  • Facebook
  • Pinterest
  • Twitter
  • eBay
  • Online banking
  • Wikipedia (a personal favorite)
  • IM/email
  • Text messaging
  • Online shopping
  • News
  • Weird news

These types of distractions are probably unavoidable with modern technology. What are the biggest time wasters you come across when you're at work?
