Shopko and its subsidiaries have filed for bankruptcy, citing “excess dept and ongoing competitive pressures” as the reason according to the Herald-Whig. As a result, 38 stores will be closing in the near future. In addition, 20 optical centers will be relocating to freestanding locations.

Not included in the list is the Quincy store located at 3200 Broadway. The only Illinois stores listed are in Dwight and Mount Carmel. Three Missouri stores and nine Iowa stores are also included. For the full list, CLICK HERE.

The Quincy Shopko pharmacy recently closed and transferred subscriptions to Hy-Vee.
Founded in 1962, Wisconsin-based Shopko currently operates more than 360 stores in 26 states. A location in Palmyra closed in early 2018.
