After beating the odds and avoiding previously released lists of store closures, the Herald Whig is now confirming that Quincy's Sears store will be closing this summer.

This comes just a month after Bergner's--another Quincy Mall anchor store--announced it would be closing its doors. According to the article, the store will be closing in mid-August and the auto center will be closing later this month (May). Liquidation sales begin May 25.

Over the past few years, Sears stores across the country have been closing. It was announced at the beginning of the year that Sears withholding would be closing 103 stores by spring.

Yet another big box store in the Quincy Mall will be gone within a few months, following the likes of previous anchor stores J.C. Penney and Bergner's.
