Highway Patrol investigators continue their investigation today into a school bus crash at Route C and Juniper Avenue north of Ewing Tuesday afternoon.

Trooper say the bus driven by 62 year old John Logan went off the right side of the road… overcorrected and went off the left side of the road and into a ditch. Logan sustained minor injuries. The bus overturned and came to rest on its top. The patrol says 27 students were on the bus. Three students sustained serious injuries and were flown to Blessing Hospital in Quincy. Three other students sustained moderate injuries. Other students received minor injuries.

A Lewis County C-1 school bus was involved in an accident at approximately 3:30 on Tuesday afternoon along Highway C. Reporters with both WGEM and KHQA observed several emergency vehicles, including AirEvac helicopters, at the scene.

Many of the children injured in the accident were taken to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for treatment. Eleven were brought by ambulance or helicopter, the rest were brought by car. Two children with minor injuries were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Authorities have not made any announcements on the conditions of those that were injured.
