After a pretty good Easter weekend, rain and storms are expected to rule in the week ahead in northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

Monday begins with clouds, with a slight chance of rain and storms beginning about mid-afternoon. Chances of showers and thunderstorms are set at 50 percent or better Monday night, and then Wednesday through Thursday night.

National Weather Service forecasters say strong thunderstorms with large hail are possible Monday night. Severe storms are also a possibility from Wednesday through Thursday night.

We are expected to get a break from the rain Friday through Saturday night with another chance of rain Sunday.

After a high in the upper 60s Monday, highs will move into the 70s Tuesday through Thursday, settling back into the 60s Friday through Sunday.

Lows will drop to the 50s Monday through Wednesday, then slide into the 40s Thursday through Saturday.
